Central Texas Consortium – Survey to show interest
You may have heard of a new federal funding agency for health R&D. It will use a consortium model, meaning that only members of the consortium can receive funding. THBI and others are helping a consortium management firm (ATI) secure this new agency’s hub to be in Texas to make it easier for Texas companies to have access to the agency and raise the state’s bioscience visibility. To accomplish this mission, companies (particularly those in Texas) need to express interest in potentially becoming part of the consortium should it be placed in Texas. The consortium will be at no-cost and open to all companies, innovators, research institutions and academic institutions conducting health and life science research, development, test, evaluation and manufacturing. Please take a few minutes and demonstrate your organization’s interest
‘Lab-on-a-Chip’ Can Tell the Difference Between COVID and the Flu
Three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, accurate testing remains a challenge, even more so as the virus has mutated over time, becoming more contagious with symptoms that are hard to tell apart from other illnesses. A new diagnostic device that can differentiate between COVID-19 and the flu, developed by researchers at The University of Texas at Austin, seeks to solve this problem while providing better and more portable care options for people who are without access to medical centers.
