SPOTLIGHT

Attention medtech, biotech, digital health, and pharma companies: registration is now open to attend BioFest Invest 2023 (https://biomedsa.org/biofest/) on Wednesday, April 19th at the University of the Incarnate Word.  This day-long, event will feature programming topics relevant to life science entrepreneurs and will include networking opportunities with a wide array of resources and potential collaborative partners.

Additionally, we will be hosting a pitch competition for any Texas based startups who are currently fundraising.  Selected companies will receive a free pitch practice session and content review with UTSA SBDC Technology Commercialization Center, along with a free hour of consulting with The Neutrino Donut, to review the SBIR market and potential opportunities for the company.  All companies will have the opportunity to present to investors and VC’s from across the country. The winner will receive $10,000, and other free prizes from member organizations (see website for details). Applications will be accepted until Friday, February 24th

Microchem Laboratory – New Facility Open House

Microchem Unveils New Laboratory Facility! The new 46,110 square foot facility, located in a suburb of Austin, Texas, doubles the amount of lab space, quadruples the amount of staff and activity space, and gives each discipline its own area.Microchem’s new facility is a major advancement for the life sciences industry in Austin and the antimicrobial industry as a whole.

To celebrate, we would like to invite all of BioAustinCTX to the new facility. Microchem is hosting an open house on February 28th, 2023. Come tour the lab, enjoy some food, and hear from special guest Dr. Charles Gerba. Each tour group is led by a department Team Lead or Analyst where you can visit the labs, learn about different operations, and network with other industry members.

BioAustinCTX Seeking Science Fair Judges

BioAustinCTX participates in Austin’s regional Science Fair each year and gives a number of Special Awards. We are looking for volunteers to help us select the best projects affecting health and the biotech industry. If you are interested, please contact Scott Collins. The fair takes place on February 23 from 9AM – 12PM. There is an alternate preview time on February 22 from 7 – 10PM.
